NCSL Legislative Summit: Time to reach out to state representatives!

Dear Minnesota Music Therapists,

For the third year in a row, AMTA and CBMT national team members will be exhibiting at the National Conference of State Legislatures’ Legislative Summit, which will be held in Nashville from August 5-8. It is likely that many of your legislators will be in attendance and we are asking for your help.

Please reach out to your state legislators and let them know our national team would enjoy meeting them at the conference. Some of you have asked for sample language to send. Feel free to use this template and tweak for your needs.

Dear [INSERT FORMAL NAME, e.g., Honorable Jeanette M. Nuñez],

I am a board certified music therapist working in [INSERT WORK INFORMATION].

Representatives from my two national organizations, the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA) and the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT), will be exhibiting at next month’s National Conference of State Legislatures’ Legislative Summit. I invite you to visit them at Booth 1105 to learn more about music therapy, our current bills in both the Senate (SF330) and the House (HF546), and recent state trends related to the formal recognition of my profession. They would welcome the opportunity to meet you.

Exhibit hours are: Tuesday August 6th, 10:00-3:30 pm; Wednesday August 7th from 10:00-3:30 pm; and Thursday August 8th from 9:00-12:00 pm.

Thank you for your consideration.

We appreciate your assistance. Let us know if you have any questions.

Kind Regards,

Minnesota Music Therapy Licensure Task Force
