Government Relations Report February 2016

Subcommittee on Licensing Hearing 2/8/16
• We feel that the hearing went well, even though there was opposition by Lee McGrath of the Institute for Justice (he testified against and opposed all proposed licenses heard).

• The subcommittee will make their recommendation to the Health and Human Service Reform Committee soon

Requests were sent out to the MT community to:
• Write and gather general letters of support

• Send thank yous to the subcommittee on licensing for hearing our bill

• Send letters of support to their legislators

• We don’t have very many letters this year and could really use some help getting the word for that need

Music Therapy Week March 13-19th
• The purpose of music therapy week is to raise awareness of and celebrate the profession of music therapy, and the impact it has on those that receive music therapy services.

• During this week we would like to have additional community outreach, community education, music therapist education, and expressions of gratitude for those that make music therapy services possible.

• The proclamation request was submitted to governor Dayton

Hill Day March 15th
• We will have two shifts for music therapists to join us for meetings with Senators and Representatives

• Shift 1 is 8:00 a.m.-11:30 p.m.

• Shift 2 is 12:30 p.m.-4:00 p.m.

• Should I just bring receipts for folders and thank you notes or is there a different way we should go about getting those?
